Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). This page refers to the community questionnaire which was distributed and collected in October/November 20151. WHY BOTHER?
It’s not compulsory. But why not do it? It only takes about fifteen minutes to complete. This is a very rare chance for you to help make a real difference to the future of the village. Whilst the parish plan (TisVis) which was published in 2006 provided a lot of interesting material, some of which is still useful, it had no legal status. But once our Neighbourhood Plan is formally accepted, it means that:
The plan covers the two parishes of Tisbury and West Tisbury – it includes the whole area of the map enclosed with your questionnaire but does not extend to any of the outlying villages such as Hindon or Swallowcliffe. They are doing their own plans. 3. WHO'S GETTING THE QUESTIONNAIRE? Every home in Tisbury and West Tisbury should receive one. 4. DOES IT MATTER IF THIS ADDRESS IS A SECOND HOME? No. 5. WHO FILLS IT IN? One member of the household who is over 18 years old should fill it in on behalf of everyone in that household - so, just one questionnaire completed per household, please. If you have any difficulty in filling it in, please ask the volunteer who delivered it to help; they can write down your answers for you, but of course, they must be your answers. 6. WHAT IF WE SPOIL IT OR WANT TO CHANGE OUR ANSWERS? Just cross things out and make the changes very obvious. There are some spares at the Post Office if you want to start again; you will be asked for your name and address so we avoid duplicates. 7. CAN I KEEP THE MAPS? Yes, but please staple the remaining pages of the questionnaire, so they stay together. 8. HOW DO WE RETURN THE QUESTIONNAIRE? It will be collected. Please put it in a polythene bag outside your front door for our volunteer to pick up, but if it hasn’t been collected after a few days please hand it into the Post Office (not in the outside pillar box please!) 9. WHO IS WRITING THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN? There is a voluntary joint working group of the two parish councils, Tisbury and West Tisbury, with at least 2 parish councillors from each parish. Resources are stretched. 10. WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE THE PLAN? There is a long process before the Plan will be available, so it will take quite a while for us to analyse all the results of the questionnaire. We will have to make sure that any gaps that appear in the information are filled. We'll do this by meeting people in groups, or individually, as necessary. We may arrange drop-in sessions; if so, they will be publicised. That way people in under-represented age groups, or special interest groups, for example, will have their views taken into account. We may need to commission specialists to do the surveys on sustainability and landscape. Sustainability and Environment are both important subjects where planning is concerned. The aim is to leave Tisbury with a legacy of attractive and responsibly constructed buildings, well-integrated transport systems, and useful and flexible public services. We hope that these will not waste energy, and will enable future generations to enjoy living in a beautiful environment with a wealth of accessible resources and opportunities for their future development. As you see, there is an awful lot of work to be done to cover all we need to do in gathering the information, assessing it all and writing a balanced and detailed Neighbourhood Plan; in fact, we reckon it could take at least a year before we can present it to the independent examiner (appointed by Wiltshire Council.) 11. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT? Only after the Plan has been approved will we be able to present it to you so you can vote on whether or not you want the Plan to be adopted. You will be invited to vote in a public referendum. |
